Dank Apps newest application, Social Change has been featured in the industry-leader in social networking news, Mashable. If you haven’t read our blog lately- Social Change is a new revenue sharing Facebook application that donates part of it’s proceeds to specific certain causes. Currently they give to 4 different causes…

The Clinton Global Initiative—HIV/AIDS Initiative - Earn For AIDS
Breast Cancer Research Foundation - Earn For Breast Cancer
The Nature Conservatory - Stop Climate Change Now
    Students For A Free Tibet

…with hopefully many more as the application begins to gain success. We are so proud of Social Change’s growing success and we hope that many more chose to use these apps as a vehicle for change!

Sean, Andrew and I each took passes at The Font Game. Andrew nailed 17 of 34 (not bad for a developer with side interest in type), I got 28 of 34 (good enough for their ‘wall of fame’ but I should probably be ashamed ) and Sean won our mini-challenge with a Carrot record of 30 of 34 (though, in all fairness, he DID get to go to TypeCon 2007

More results to come as the other Carrot guys take a try at it!
Thanks to @AngryGirlfriend for the link!

Social Change is making great strides on Facebook in just one week. Social Change, of course, is the newest endeavor of Dank Apps that is positively altering user interaction for the betterment of mankind on the Facebook platform. Having already raised hundreds of dollars since its launch on April 8th 2008, Here’s how Social Change raises awareness and support for the most pressing social issues: For every new user to the application, $.02 is raised. After that, any activity within the application generates revenue to be donated to the cooperating charities. Currently, Social Change works with: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, The Clinton HIV/Aids Initiative and the Nature Conservancy. This impressive and innovative utilization of Facebook users’ activity has already garnered media praise from VentureBeat and AllFacebook. We, at Carrot, are so proud of Dank Apps and are so grateful to be a part of SocialChange. We hope you enjoy our creative design on this project, but more importantly, we hope you engage in such a simple, fun yet world-changing experience.

We at Carrot would like to remind all of our clients, friends and family that diversity and acceptance are at the core of Carrot Creative. Thus, this year we are taking serious strides to further our diversity education by allowing each staff member the opportunity to watch, either live or via TV/webcast, the home opener of their respective baseball team. As we speak, Robert is watching the Mets in the comfort of Shea Stadium working from his iPhone, while Kyle and I take fifteen-minute breaks to catch webcast clips of the Red Sox. Not only are all Carrot Crew members offered this experience, but we have also imposed a no-taunting stipulation effective now until the beginning of September. Condescending remarks of 2-3 season starts will now be replaced with consoling happy-hour specials and congratulatory high-fives.

However, on September 1, all stipulations are void, and booing shall commence (in a competitive yet friendly manner). Until then, Go Sox… I mean, GO BASEBALL!

Mike was recently confirmed as a speaker at this year’s NY Digital Basins Software Forum. This two day conference, May 22-23, is presented by Concerted Networks and will be located at the Auburn Public Theater in Auburn, New York. Mike will be speaking on day two of the conference on the topic of “Creating Award Winning User Interfaces for Web 2.0 Sites.” This speaking engagement adds to the already impressive list of engagements held by Mike within the past year, including Graphing Social Patterns and Social Media 2007.

Yesterday, I attended this month’s New York Tech Meetup at the IAC Building. As always, these events are a great place to meet the up-and-coming faces of the Web 2.0 world in NYC, as well as relate with other programmers, developers and professionals after a good day’s work. Below are the list of presenters from the Meetup, which I encourage everyone takes a look at as there are truly some great ideas brewing in the Northeast.
