Every day is an exciting day at Carrot Creative, but today we’re bumping it up a notch. That’s because today we welcome Darryl Ohrt to the Carrot Creative family!! We are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to bring on someone like Darryl, who is a digital agency veteran, well known blogger, and an all-around creative genius! Welcome to the family, Darryl!

Prior to joining Carrot Creative, Darryl was the Founder and President of Humongo, a digital agency he started 15 years ago. His leadership built an agency unlike any in the business. They started the first ever social media road tour (HumongoNation), and one of the most read blogs in the industry (Brand Flakes for Breakfast), and built an indie agency that generated buzz and fans (!!) at a level unheard of in our business. And of course, he’s worked with some iconic clients like Marc Ecko, Timex, Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, Sony Music, Segway, and BIC.

Ironically, it’s Darryl’s experience via HumongoNation that brought him to Carrot. After visiting agencies from coast to coast, he had a shortlist of the companies that he admired and could see himself as a part of if he wasn’t at Humongo. We were proud to learn that Carrot was at the top of the list.

Why are we so excited? Carrot is made of an organic team of digital street fighters and bridge builders that knew Social Media would be the foundation for the future. Over the past six years we have added amazing talent to help organically grow a dream team. But as the great Brooklyn poet Notorious B.I.G once said “Mo Money Mo Problems” – clearly a nod to the challenges of scaling a business. As more amazing clients are added to our roster and we continue to push the envelope on what we can do with social platforms, we need to be very smart with how we grow. We have seen a bunch of digital shops grow too fast, only to create a shaky foundation that destroys company culture, ultimately and negatively affecting the work they deliver.

The growth and world domination of Carrot Creative is inevitable, so we need to ensure our foundation is grounded deep in the company’s cultural bedrock. We were huge fans of Darryl and his work and he could have gone just about anywhere, but he really wanted to be here, and we think he will help us grow in the right way.

There is a shortlist of industry vets with talent, experience, and passion to come to our team, and understand how the crazy culture makes this place run. We are lucky that one of these people was looking for a new/big challenge. So why Carrot? Why now? You can read more about that in Darryl’s Ad Age article.

But from my perspective, I think Darryl realizes that beyond producing great work, Carrot Creative will be fun place to work, and is filled with the most genuine (no bullshit) people you’re going to find, who simply will never let anything get in their way. Simply said, Darryl knows we have the balls to be whoever/whatever we want to be, because we know how to innovate and make social work for brands!

Today I am so honored and even more excited to announce Darryl Ohrt as our Executive Creative Director.
