Carrots in Canada: Tony Goes to FITC

Photo by Michael Sheedy Last week I had the (over)enthusiastic pleasure to attend FITC’s 2011 Toronto event, which I won a ticket to from the awesome people over at ActiveDen / ActiveTuts / Envato – thanks again! FITC has been community of creativity and inspiration for just about ten years, something I’ve always wanted to attend since I first heard about it but haven’t had the chance til now. The speakers are as diverse as the topics, and my only… Continue Reading

    The Annual R.I.T. “Fishing Trip”

Each year we host interns from the Rochester Institute of Technology (R.I.T.), with several segueing to full-time staff. Last Thursday, Carrot Creative made the annual trek up to Rochester, NY to attend R.I.T.’s “Creativity: Careers in Motion” event. As an alumnus, I have attended this event since Carrot began participating in the program, each time in the company of a different Carrot crew member. This time, Senior Creative Steve Badowski, joined me. The recruiting event is a great experience for both… Continue Reading

An Inspired Surprise from Our Biggest Fans Yet

Back in September, I was invited to speak to a former Carrot’s class at Syracuse University. We all know I never miss an opportunity to speak about Carrot Creative, inspire young, impressionable minds, and comb for talent, so I hopped on a prop plane bound for ‘Cuse. I was ecstatic to find that the students seemed to really get what I was saying. Carrot Creative has worked hard to create the kind of culture we boast today. We manage this… Continue Reading

    Painting Miami Ad School Orange

The winter quarter at Miami Ad School has begun, and we’re thrilled to announce that not one… not two… but THREE of us Carrots have joined the teaching staff in the school’s Brooklyn studio, located just a few blocks from Carrot HQ. Kaitlin Villanova, our Director of Client Services, will be teaching the Self-Promotion class. In POP 541, Kaitlin will help prepare MAS students for the job market after graduation by helping them define their career vision and envisioning their professional… Continue Reading

    Carrot’s (Hypothetical) Secret Santa

    carrot_christmas

Tomorrow marks Carrot Creative’s fourth annual White Elephant tradition, but for shits and giggles, I randomly assigned Secret Santas to the Crew and asked them what they’d hypothetically give their fellow Carrot in a gift exchange. Here’s what they came up with: Mike would give Steve “a Hoop Fever arcade game because Steve is ON FIRE.” Steve would get Analee “1.75L of Gran Patrón Platinum Silver tequila because we all know how much she loves the holiday spirit.” Tony would… Continue Reading

Where the Thinkers, Doers, and Creatives Come to Play

Last night wasn’t my first time at Digital DUMBO. Even though I moved to L.A. for three years, my monthly trips to New York always coincided with the event. I lived 3,000 miles away and I’d somehow still managed to attend it almost a dozen times. But this time was different. It was my first Digital DUMBO as a full-time New Yorker, and more importantly, my first Digital DUMBO as a Carrot. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s different when… Continue Reading

Carrot Creative Reppin’ the MoMoBK Event

    blogpost2

Dumbo loft, check. Free Brooklyn beer, check (thank you RRE Ventures). Everyone in room geeking-out over mobile apps, check. This pretty much sums up the Monday Mobile Brooklyn event this past Monday night where our very own Robert Gaafar, Carrot Creative’s CEO presented our submission to the NYC Big Apps contest: “Where Brooklyn App?”

They’re Just Not That Into You(r agency)

Carrot isn’t ashamed to admit that yes from time to time we are turned down by clients. We aren’t an agency full of salespeople so we rely solely on our creative minds and genuine nature to win big business. We pride ourselves on being humble. Sure, WE know we’re freaking awesome but sometimes is takes time for YOU (the client) to realize that. Recently at a client pitch where “team biz;” (@jpbrunelle, @katykelley, @mopostal, @mikegermano and @kaitvillanova) pitched a boatload… Continue Reading

    Zip, Zip and Away!

    zipcar

Thank you Zipcar for sending us this awesome package of swag! Here at Carrot Creative, we have always been big fans of the Zipcar brand, in fact we love it so much we built a customized twitter feed for them. With an office in Brooklyn, and clients all over the place we have had many instances where a Zipcar rental came to the rescue. Our favorite use was for a recent visit to our most colorful client,  Crayola. For this trip,… Continue Reading

    Introducing FanFeedr: Personalized Sports Search

For those in DUMBO that don’t know yet, FanFeedr has moved into the area. Ty Ahmad-Taylor and his team setup shop in the Green Building off Water St. a few weeks ago. As the sports guy here at Carrot, I was extremely excited to hear about such a cool fan-oriented product planting roots in DUMBO. FanFeedr is all about providing real-time personalized sports news to fans in the most desirable way, and their integration of Facebook Connect is a clear… Continue Reading
