Twitter Cigarette
May 21st, 2008

Half the staff here at Carrot are quite “into” Twitter. The other half, not so much. @mikegermano made a tweet about the addictive nature of Twitter that caused an interesting discussion and the start to a big blog post comparing Twitter to cigarettes. While we work on the article we just wanted to have a visual of some Twitter brand smokes… Twitter Pack

Birdz in Brooklyn
May 6th, 2008
Posted By: Chris Petescia

uhhhhMAREica
Bobby, Sean and I went down to the waterfront between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges today at lunch… beautiful weather, blue skies, killer birds…

Yes, there were birds of prey about. Ok, they were chained to posts by the ankle, but still very much alive and awesome! A raptor exhibit-bus was near the park for an informational show about Hawks, Owls and even a Bald Eagle… there were a bunch of school children trying to crowd us, so we did the right thing and left before any school yard brawls could ensue, but not before snapping a few pics. The grand-daddy above brings the iconic song America, F*ck Yeah! to mind…

Shoutout from the Couch
April 25th, 2008
Posted By: Julius

Julius here. So my first Shoutout from the Couch goes to Brian Shaler. Most of you probably know Brian from his infamous “Shalerjump” seen across the webiverse, however Brian is also a very talented web developer and photographer based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Brian was recently in town for PodCamp NYC 2.0, and stopped by the office for the afternoon to get in some work and, of course, a Shalerjump. Posing for the picture with him made me feel like I was in a live version of Super Mario, the NES original version of course. Anyway, thanks for visiting the Carrot offices Brian, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Posted By: Julius

Well its about time the rest of the Carrot Crew let me in on this blog thing. Hello! Hola! Hej! YO!

For all of those who do not know me, and even for those that do, allow me to formally introduce myself: I’m Julius. I come from the land of IKEA, you may have heard of it. And if you have been in the office, or if you have seen any pictures of the office, I am the big bright orange dude on all fours.

Carrot and Onion: Vegetable Companies Unite!
April 24th, 2008
Posted By: Andrew Kortina

@mikegermano and I visited the Onion offices today to speak with them about some pretty cool new stuff they’re working on.  It’s always a pleasure speaking with people who just get it.

After our meeting, we headed to a great lunch in Soho and enjoyed a little afternoon sunlight.  (I’m sure Mike will be recording his thoughts on lunch via his newest social media outlet, yelp.)

Anyway, we’re eagerly anticipating the release of some new stuff from the Onion and we’ll be sure to throw some links up once it’s live.

Carrot B-day Bash Recap
April 23rd, 2008
Posted By: Christian Shaboo

Its been about a week since Carrot’s Birthday Bash, and we would like to again thank everyone who came to celebrate with us. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating Carrot’s first birthday, where there were a handful of us crammed in a little Connecticut office intoxicated off the hopes and desires to make Carrot Creative a successful and well recognized name in the New Media field. Now, just two years later, we feel that we have achieved that and so much more, and could not have done it without the support of our clients, family and friends. This Carrot Birthday Bash, much like the ones that preceeded it and the ones we have to look forward to, was not only a way for us to celebrate our success, but was a small token of our appreciation for all of you.

Earth Day!
April 22nd, 2008
Posted By: Chris Petescia

Happy Earth Day from everyone at Carrot Creative. We plan to use this day as a reminder of how we are all responsible for contributing to better environmental practices and “greener” lifestyles, on a daily basis… every little bit helps, and we intend to continue looking for new ways to reduce our impact as both a company, and as individuals.

On that note, we’d like to share a few of our favorite products and some of our daily green reads!

Products
Klean Kanteen (via AMZ): We rock the 27oz loop caps ourselves. More info on why these are a much better alternative to plastics @ Klean Kanteen

Wegmans ReUsable Shopping bag: Most food stores now sell these for a dollar or two- they offer a great alternative to non-biodegradable, one-use plastic bags, and function beyond groceries. If you ever catch me on my way into the Carrot HQ, chances are you’ll notice me ladden with them carry everything from my lunch to books and whatever else I can overburden myself with that day.

USBCELL AA Rechargable Batteries (via AMZ): A great option for rechargeable batteries, these conveniently charge via USB port! On sale this morning at AMZ’s Goldbox too!

Solar Panel Backpack (via AMZ) & SolarRolls power alternative: While pricey up front, these undoubtedly pay for themselves in sheer convenience and energy reduction, over time. These are on my personal wishlist for my birthday… in case any fiancés or family are reading this!

Green Tech/Industry News:

Green Shopping/living:
Etsy: A great way to support artists and find unique gifts, without industrial production and labor or fair trade concerns!
The Green Loop: A centralized resource for green products and companies
Ecolect: Their tag says it all… “[a] Community for Sustainable Design”

Anyway, we have many more to share for anyone interested, and please feel free to leave a comment with your own favorite green links!

Baseball Breeds Diversity at Carrot
April 8th, 2008
Posted By: Christian Shaboo

We at Carrot would like to remind all of our clients, friends and family that diversity and acceptance are at the core of Carrot Creative. Thus, this year we are taking serious strides to further our diversity education by allowing each staff member the opportunity to watch, either live or via TV/webcast, the home opener of their respective baseball team. As we speak, Robert is watching the Mets in the comfort of Shea Stadium working from his iPhone, while Kyle and I take fifteen-minute breaks to catch webcast clips of the Red Sox. Not only are all Carrot Crew members offered this experience, but we have also imposed a no-taunting stipulation effective now until the beginning of September. Condescending remarks of 2-3 season starts will now be replaced with consoling happy-hour specials and congratulatory high-fives.

However, on September 1, all stipulations are void, and booing shall commence (in a competitive yet friendly manner). Until then, Go Sox… I mean, GO BASEBALL!
