Traditional advertising methods are dead. In their wake lies a battleground for social web supremacy. After attending the Social Media Business School conference today and hearing our very own Mike Germano challenge traditional marketing concepts head on, it became clear to me that the time is right to revolutionize the social web.
One topic that was repeated throughout the day was the idea of the “SuperUser.” The ideal SuperUser is densely connected to others within their community and has the unique ability to influence the purchasing and surfing habits of their connections. They have plump profiles bursting with valuable demographic and psychographic data. The SuperUser is key to developing targeted growth rates, and will ultimately lead to more scientific, old-guard friendly metrics that can be leveraged for more lucrative advertising campaigns.
The SuperUser is also the ideal candidate to become a brand ambassador. By displaying and utilizing the logos, colors, and ideas from their favorite brands, The SuperUser reinforces commercial brand elements, while at the same time putting their own personal spin on it. This leads to an increased level of brand engagement which not only helps to increase an application’s lifespan, but extends a users perception of the brand into other advertising spaces.
Quantitative social media is just one part of our interactive arsenal that aides us in our quest to become the most innovative web mercenaries on the planet.
School is not out for summer. But, I can promise you there will be no pop quizzes on Wednesday, June 25, as I will be speaking at the Social Media Business School event in NYC. The event is located at the Chinatown Brasserie on 380 Lafayette St and will begin at 9 am (but get there early as I am sure registration will fill up fast). I will be speaking on the panel designated for Social Media Marketing, however the day will include panel discussions and presentations on Analytics, App Hosting Options, Media API’s, Brand Advertising, Performance Advertising and Social Media Business Modeling. Social Media Business School, hosted by SocialMedia Networks, is sure to bring about great networking opportunities and great insight into the Business of Social Media, and I encourage anyone out there in the field of Social Media, in the NYC area or simply interested in the ins-and-outs of the Social Media business world to attend this great event.
I will be attending the Numenta HTM Workshop in Palo Alto, CA this June! The workshop explores Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM) and the Numenta Platform for Intelligent Computing (NuPIC). Not only will I be soaking up the newest developments on HTM and NuPIC, soaking up the summer Cali sun, but I have also been asked to discuss “Neuro Computation in the Cloud” during the Lightning Talks on June 24 at the workshop. This is a result of the 2nd place finish Christopher Laan and I received from this year’s Numenta Game Challenge.
If anyone else is going to be at the workshop, please let me know so we can meet up!
VIP TXT was recently featured on the Web2NewYork blog!
We are thrilled to annouce that VIP TXT will be unveiled Tuesday, May 13 at the Web2NewYork Networking Party. Although it has been a long and arduous process getting VIP TXT ready for launch, we could not be happier to have it prepared for the summer months. And although we will be debuting it in the New Haven, Hartford and Stamford CT areas, we can guarentee that it will not be long before VIP TXT is THE connection for all of your nightlife needs.
The Carrot Crew consisting of Bobby, Andrew and I just got back from day one of the Podcamp NYC 2.0 unconference. Its always an interesting experience attending these conferences as there is always a great mix of people merely there to sell their “revolutionary New Media” idea and those people genuinely invested in important conversation about the future of the New Media industry. However, we do thank everyone that did present in the variety of seminars we attended as each seminar offered the space to talk about the industry. Check out Andrew and I discussing the impact of Twitter and other new Media outlets (around 4:00 into the video), and of course we thank Laura Fitton of Pistachio Consulting for posting the video on Qik. Lastly, we would like to thank the Polytechnic University and everyone else that made Podcamp NYC 2.0 possible. We can not wait till 3.0!
Its been about a week since Carrot’s Birthday Bash, and we would like to again thank everyone who came to celebrate with us. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating Carrot’s first birthday, where there were a handful of us crammed in a little Connecticut office intoxicated off the hopes and desires to make Carrot Creative a successful and well recognized name in the New Media field. Now, just two years later, we feel that we have achieved that and so much more, and could not have done it without the support of our clients, family and friends. This Carrot Birthday Bash, much like the ones that preceeded it and the ones we have to look forward to, was not only a way for us to celebrate our success, but was a small token of our appreciation for all of you.
The Carrot Crew will be in full force at PodCampNYC this year. It is a little walk from our office so we don’t need to fly to the West Coast! If you will be attending let us know so we can meet up. See everyone there!
Happy Earth Day from everyone at Carrot Creative. We plan to use this day as a reminder of how we are all responsible for contributing to better environmental practices and “greener” lifestyles, on a daily basis… every little bit helps, and we intend to continue looking for new ways to reduce our impact as both a company, and as individuals.
On that note, we’d like to share a few of our favorite products and some of our daily green reads!
Products
Klean Kanteen (via AMZ): We rock the 27oz loop caps ourselves. More info on why these are a much better alternative to plastics @ Klean Kanteen
Wegmans ReUsable Shopping bag: Most food stores now sell these for a dollar or two- they offer a great alternative to non-biodegradable, one-use plastic bags, and function beyond groceries. If you ever catch me on my way into the Carrot HQ, chances are you’ll notice me ladden with them carry everything from my lunch to books and whatever else I can overburden myself with that day.
USBCELL AA Rechargable Batteries (via AMZ): A great option for rechargeable batteries, these conveniently charge via USB port! On sale this morning at AMZ’s Goldbox too!
Solar Panel Backpack (via AMZ) & SolarRolls power alternative: While pricey up front, these undoubtedly pay for themselves in sheer convenience and energy reduction, over time. These are on my personal wishlist for my birthday… in case any fiancés or family are reading this!
