I’ve been a huge fan of the Shorty Awards since its inception and that’s why I’m extra excited to make this announcement:

Our very own Mike Germano is now a member of the Real-Time Academy 0f Short Form Arts & Sciences. The Academy exists to discover the best and most innovative uses of real-time media—simply put, they play a vital role in choosing the winners of the Shorty Awards.

Mike will be joining the likes of Dennis Crowley, Alyssa Milano, Caterina Fake, MC Hammer, Craig Newmark, and Jimmy Wales in honoring the best content producers on Twitter and in social media.

Specifically, he’ll be part of the Marketing Jury, which focuses on judging the Shorty Industry Awards.

And while this rules out our client work from any of the wards, we’re so excited for Carrot Creative to be represented among respected leaders in advertising, media, and web.

Congrats, Mike!

Carrot Blog
Ladies and Gentlemen, we’re officially Hollywood big shots. Well, almost.

After much anticipation, Carrot Creative has completed our first film site, and what better way to lose our film site virginity than with the cinematic adaptation of Tucker Max’s New York Times bestseller, I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell?

It all started when Tucker’s right hand man, Ian Claudius, first read about Carrot in Smashing Magazine’s fantastic post, Looking Back On 2008 With Top Web Designers. A quick phone call, plane ride, and train ride later we found ourselves in the middle of Times Square at Magno Studios for a private screening of the film with Tucker Max himself. At Carrot Creative, we have an innovative 360 degree project immersion program that dictated our enjoyment of the film while kicking back with a cooler of frosty libations (errr… 40oz-ers). This helped us fully recreate the target market’s optimal viewing conditions.

As our fearless leader @mikegermano mentioned in an earlier post, “the great thing about working with a client like Tucker is that he is as open and excited about our ideas as we are and isn’t afraid to push the limits to what we can do. When you have that kind of trust from a client, it’s always refreshing and makes our entire team want to start immediately.”

So, we hit the ground running, tackling a project we’d otherwise dismiss. Tucker has always been very innovative with how he leveraged the social power of the Internet, successfully cultivating a rabid following before the words “Social” and “Media” were ever used together. We’ve always admired his tenacious business sense and respected his extraordinary use of the written word. What better way to launch a feature film then with an extremely targeted, engaged, and receptive audience?

After handful of late nights, and some seriously fun brainstorming sessions over delicious Grimaldi’s pizza, we pulled it off. So, without further adieu, our latest masterpiece.

Sit back, crack open a beer, and enjoy the social capabilities of the site. Be sure to check out the flick in theatres September 25th.

As a person who has run (and won) for political office in the past, the NY Tech Meetup election obviously strikes a personal chord for me. Having a personal interest with politics, I also take interest in reviewing what each candidate can offer as a whole to something that I am very passionate about. And, as an agency that is growing at a rapid pace in the NY Tech scene, Carrot Creative as a whole is interested in the election to see where it can help us grow as a company.

The team sat down this morning to go over what we wanted in a leader for this community. Unanimous responses all around. We want to work with a leader that will not only help us continue to grow, but help to connect us with the many talented individuals that are already making this community boom.

With everyone from web design and social media experts to business development and user experience geniuses making strides every day, this community has an overwhelming amount of talent and needs to be run by someone that “gets” what the people can do. They also need to find a way to bring them together to maintain this continuous growth.

As active members of this community, Carrot Creative would like to announce that we officially endorse Nate Westheimer for Community Organizer. Nate has proven his interest and dedication to the community and we’re here to back him and show our support.

Vote here for the NY Tech Meetup: http://www.meetup.com/ny-tech/polls/
